Question

Laserfiche Server Service Stopped automatically after a while

asked on November 22, 2016

Hi

I have installed Laserfiche Server 10 Rio License for one of our client recently in windows server 2012,We are using Laserfiche Forms connected to workflow server to retrieve datas from database, most of the times the laserfiche server service gets stopped if the server is not used for a while, lets say every 10-15 min,the lf server service gets stopped and after if the laserfiche forms needs to connect with workflow server, the workflow went to waiting status till we start the service manually and rerun the workflow,I dont have any idea whether its a windows issue or LF issue.

If anyone can help me to sort out the issue, that will be really helpful. Thanks in Advance.

Hello Noohul,

My first suggestion would be to check the Application Event Log (Control Panel\System and Security\Administrative Tools\Event Viewer) to see if there is any further information as to why the Laserfiche Server service stopped. You might also want to try generating a new license for the Laserfiche Server from Rio License Manager or LFDS (whichever you might be using).

For more information on how to use the Event Viewer to troubleshoot errors, you can click here.

Hopefully that helps!

Hello Adam,

I checked in Error log and it shows the following error:

"The number of named user assignments exceeds the licensed limit.  Named user  sessions will not be permitted until the number of assigned named users is at or below the limit."

And i generated new license from Directory Server for LF server and replaced with the new one,now i think the service is running and it doesn't get stopped automatically, but can you explain the above error message .Is there any limit for User task assignment in Forms?

Hello Noohul,

Unfortunately, it is difficult to say with certainty what caused the error message without more information. That being said, I believe the below reasons are most likely:

  1. The number of user licenses allocated to the client was incorrect; or
  2. Registration details in LFDS were changed and this invalidated the previous license.

In either case, generating a new license with the right number of users should have corrected the issue.

With regards to your question about limits for user task assignment in Forms, I’ve asked someone on our development team and there shouldn’t be a limit for the number of user tasks assigned to a user. However, it is important to note that user task assignment in Forms and user licensing for the LF server are unrelated to each other as far as the errors encountered go.

Cheers!
